other artist work under my name???

Hi,

While randomly googling my own name (Ok, I'm a bit bored today and its always interesting to see what comes up

), a few of my card designs appeared which was nice, under bigdates, best reminders, etc, etc.

However, I noticed 2 card designs came up with the heading by:catherine noy 2007 which wasn't in fact my designs...? When I click on the two cards links (one was a mosaic castle painting and the other is a Happy 50th Birthday) it takes me to best reminders/databox sites. Here the cards don't actually have my name on them but (I guess) the real designer of these lovely cards, but from the first google search it is being marketed as mine.

Whilst I am flattered to have such lovely designs credited to me, it isn't right and I wonder how many of my card designs are coming up under someone elses name like this.

Can someone else try this and let me know if the same thing happens to you? Thanks

Reply #1 - Dec 18^th, 2007, 6:39am Hi, Curiosity got the better of me and I randomly searched a few other of the artists here at GCU and I found that one of Corrie's 'feet cards' came up under Diana Evans at birthday-reminders.com hhhmmmmmm

Also, this company, http://www.dateboxx.com/community/viewdetails.asp?pid=66522&page=1&cid=1 252 Seems to be selling our cards!! Anyone know if this is part of GCU or what?

Catherine-

Yeah, I admit to "googling" my name, too. Wink

And I have come up with cards by other artists as well. It's just that those cards probably have some of the same tags as your cards. I believe you probably noticed that if you go to those cards, it will have the actual artist! Just think of it this way, when other artists are "googled" your cards may come up as well. More exposure!

It has exactly the same layout as GCU so I would imagion it's the same company. My lovely parachute card is there - i didn't check them all but I'm represented and I'm happy (that's one less site to join and re-upload my work!)

I think what may be happening here is that when google indexed the page, one of your cards was included in the "More Cards >>" area on the left side of the page.

The "More Cards >>" area will display different cards every time you refresh, but if you view Google's Cached link for that page, you may see the card that got indexed for their search result.

Catherine!...thanks for addressing that question as I have encountered the same thing. I guessed that what was happening was just what Shaun said, so I didn't bother to post. It is a llittle misleading, though. Occasionally, I'll see artwork attributed to me that is very uncharacteristic of my style, which I find a little troubling.

The whole internet thing is like a multiplying monster that we humans (especially IT humans) are constantly, and frantically, trying to "manage". I'm not overly concerned about it, however.

Shaun,

Is there a list somewhere or a link that you could share with us, that would give us all the GCU partners that our card designs will show up? That way we will all know for future purposes and not be surprised when one of or many of our designs are showing up on the internet.

Can you provide us with that info?
