This is the price we pay
for the privilege to have been
awakened by the tickle of
their whiskers on our face.
To have been soothed by the
gentle rumble of their purr.
To have had a friend who we
can sit with in silent conversation.
Who loved us unconditionally.
We pray that eternal sleep
will bring a peaceful end
to the life we shared
with our precious friend.
