Fun Facts About Monarchs:
Their size is from 3.5 - 4 inches across the wings.
The coloring ranges from yellow-orange
to bright orange, with black and white dots on
wing edges.
Other common names of this butterfly are milkweed,
common tiger, wanderer, and black veined brown.
Their favorite food is the milkweed.
Every year, monarchs migrate. The ones east of the
Rocky Mountains travel to the Mariposa Monarca
Biosphere Reserve in Mexico and also to Texas and
Oklahoma. Year round monarchs can be found in
Arizona and Florida, while the western population
overwinters in various coastal areas in central and
southern California. In the spring the second, third
and fourth generations return to their northern
locations of the United States and Canada.
