Uncommon Cards for Kodak Marketing Campaign
Sep 25th, 2012, 1:30pm

Kodak, our partner for Target in-store printing, will be doing some marketing of Greeting Card Universe and "any card imaginable".  They will be leading with some of our more unusual and uncommon cards, specifically the following.  We do not expect big sales on these specific cards but used as attention- getters for the overall campaign.

If interested, please consider creating cards for any of these occasions.  They should go in Collections >> National & International Days, some with their own subcategories and the others should go in >> Other:

-      National Thank You Day
-      World Teachers' Day (different than teacher appreciation day)
-      Do Something Nice Day
-      National Sandwich Day
-      Sadie Hawkins Day
-      World AIDS Day
-      National Cookie Day
-      National Taco Day
-      National Grouch Day
-      Cranky Co-worker Day
-      National Have a Bad Day Day
-      Black Friday
-      Santa’s List Day
-      Christmas Card Day
-      Regifting Day

As well as cards for:
Holidays >> Devil's Night / Hell Night / Mischief Night

To expedite the review of these cards please check "Fast Track Review" on the Card Image Details page when you create your card.

Do you have specific dates for each of these, Mindy? Or are they submitted as thought of? Is there a deadline for the entire group? Please list if so. Thanks.

Many of these are in October, some November and December.  I'll see if we can add the date to the category name.  May be interesting to see if it prompts sales.  Kodak wants to start their marketing asap.

Mindy - Can you verify & confirm that artists can legally use the term "Black Friday" for commercial use.

Please see www.uspto.gov - trademark search Serial No. 85480135

I've already had a design approved and this came up on my radar after the fact. There are 2 things unclear to me. 1) If it is only infringement if you use all capital letters in the Times New Roman font and 2) If infringement applies only to the alcohol beverage industry.

Can you please give me any information that you can. I completely understand the phrase "I am not a lawyer, I cannot give out legal advice" however, you can give your interpretation or opinion and that's sort of what I'm looking for.

Now to state my opinion. . . If I knew that these guys had filed for the trademark I would have complained to the uspto.

Mindy - also serial # 85598217. I'm trying to research this between power failures and not getting much done. I did find out that this document states "standard character mark" which means any font. This document specifies software industry.

Also please confirm commercial usage of: National Thank You Day, Hell Night, and Sadie Hawkins Day. I got live trademark hits on both of these.

RE: Black Friday, I did not find any that are related to the greeting card or stationery good & services so we should be ok.

Will research the others thru the balance of the week and report back....
** UPDATE **

With some quick due diligence one that you've listed appears to be close but not specific as it's registred for the greeting card or stationery goods & services, specifically BUT does not list Greeting Cards.

Sadie Hawkins Day is under Paper Goods & Printed Materials:
SADIE HAWKINS DAY is newspaper comic strips and/or comic books and/or books featuring a continuing comic strip.

So until further notice we feel this one is OK.

Hello,

In doing some research for Sadie Hawkins day, I'm coming up with different dates for this. It seems to me that it's the first Saturday after the 9th of November, so this year it's the 10th. This is for when girls ask guys out.

http://www.punchbowl.com/holidays/2012/11/10/sadie-hawkins-day

I've seen too, where Sadie Hawkins Day is recognized in February, on Leap Day, for marriage proposals.

Can we do both?

Thanks,
Cherie
