Okay...I guess I'm a "dummy" when it comes to the business side of Facebook. Do you actually make a separate account with just your marketing of cards and products? I have my personal page, so do I create an account 'within' my personal account or is it separate.

I know I need to promote more.

It's changed, but I think you start here:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

There is only 1 sign-in, so you have your normal profile, then you can add "pages" through that link above.

I frankly find it cumbersome, and the HELP is extremely weak.

Okay....I was able to create a new FB page called ElizDesigns, however, whenever I sign in, it brings me to my regular personal page and I can't seem to get to my NEW store without typing it in the search. What's the deal here?

That is what I have to do too.  That is why it is cumbersome.

I wonder if it's because they are both under the same e-mail address.

This is from FB's FAQ:

"If I already have a user profile, can I create a business account?

Maintaining multiple accounts, regardless of the purpose, is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use. If you already have a personal account, then we cannot allow you to create business accounts for any reason. You can manage all the Pages and Socials Ads that you create on your personal account.

Please keep in mind that the fans of any of the Pages you administer will not have visibility or access to your personal account or profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name.

To create a Page, simply click on the "Create a Page" link under the Sign Up section of www.facebook.com.

If you wish to manage ads for multiple clients, you will need to do so from one account. We suggest you restrict all ads for each client to separate campaigns. Unfortunately it is not currently possible to designate separate credit cards for each campaign or to have multiple administrators for the same ad account."

Yup Corrie ... that is the way it is now.  I have 1 personal page for friends and enemies, 1 "PAGE" for Comical Captions, and 1 "PAGE" for another line of stuff.   They are not tied together other than I am the Admin.

For ads, you have one paying account.  You can use Paypal for that if you want, and this can be a different email than you use for FB Log-in.

What they call a "Campaign" is one or more ads in a "group" all set to run for the same period (such as 6 days).  You can turn the campaign ON or OFF.  I have 3 similar ads for cards in my first campaign but they are worded slightly differently from each other, and aimed at 3 different groups (ie: USA-ALL, Minnesota, and my local city.)  -- mainly to see how many impressions and clicks they each get.  Sales would be nice too!

I have a 2nd campaign running for that other line of stuff I sell.  That "stuff" is more expensive so I don't mind increasing my per-click cost bid if needed.

They initially suggested about $1.50 per click for all these ads, which is scary high for a greeting card if they don't buy any or only a few, so I started at 25 cents per click.  Well, that led to no impressions at all.  I have since bumped it up to 60 cents per click and now it is seeing over 1000 imprints a day, but yet still no clicks.  They say one should aim for 1 click per 2000 impressions.

I budgeted up to $3/d per campaign and so far I've only spent 50 cents on one click (in that "other stuff" campaign).  This suggest I should bump my bid up even higher to get closer to my budget per day.  That is smart if sales also result ... can't answer that one yet.  It's only been 24 hrs.

Right now, at 60 cents/click on my greeting card ad, I have 1000, 150, and 10 impressions for USA, MN, and local respectively.  This suggests USA-wide may be the way to go.

They also say if your per day budget is bigger (such as $10) that this can also help with impressions even if you don't raise your per-click number.  It is nice that you can adjust these once the campaign is running until you see results.

My plan is to bump it up every 24 hours to see what happens.  I've only spent 50-cents so far and have learned A LOT!   I think it has good potential.

And...

When get 25 fans on your business pages, then you can request a shorter and direct URL which makes getting to your page really easy.

Such as mine is http://www.facebook.com/SalonOfArt

"As for Facebook, most of us have a personal FB page as well as a business FB page.

I am one to routinely post news of a recent card sale on FB-personal using the fast and easy Fshare link in our sales notification emails.  My "friends" do click on the card in their FB news feed which helps bump up the card's click count which in turn helps its popularity at GCU.  That alone can be pretty powerful in nudging certain cards closer to page 1 on GCU."

Hi Tom,

I just started a FB business page for my cards. What is your FB store URL? I'll be happy to give you a 'like', and then, since I'm at zero, it would be great if you would do the same for me.  Smiley  My link is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Evies-Artful-Card-Shoppe/153735041360973?sk=wall

Anyone else who would like to 'like' my page, please do so! If you have a business page, I'll do the same for you.  Wink

Thanks,
Evie

Hi Evie,

I'm honored to be the first one to LIKE you!   Wink

Mine is Comical Captions.  I could use a few more lovers (likers) ... line forms to the right.  Cheesy

I'm now running 4 FB ads for a week ... I'll report on that little venture later.  One has 800 impressions but no clicks as yet.   undecided
