We usually delete them to keep the server tidy course you don't have to but usually we do
it's unusual that they have gone, but if they are no longer in that section it sounds like they
have.
 
I keep mine on disk, usually the photoshop/raw plus the jpg incase
 
But if we do delete all those stored images I does not effect our cards.
