Judith, a pinging service like Pingoat (there are others out there, too, both free and paid services) will "ping" - or notify - search engines that your blog has been updated.

Each time you do a new post on your blog, you'll go to Pingoat, fill in the form, choose the search engines you want notified, and send the ping. It's basically a quick way to alert these engines that your blog has new content. Don't forget to actually go to Pingoat and set up the ping each time; these things aren't usually done automatically on free sites.

Hi Corrie,
I want to get my blog out there...I only have two followers, granted it may not be that exciting, it's only about my life and gcu and z and promoting! However, I'm going to set up an acct. with your Pingoat and see what happens! I took a look and where it says 'click category or select all'....should I select all? I haven't even heard of most of them quite frankly!

I was really just asking for advice as to which to choose....should I hit all of them...I was sort of afraid to do that as I don't even know what they are! LOL! I'll have them pinging all over to places I know not where!
