We realize a great card has a great image and great words
We have a lots of great images, but far more art than we have words to fill them
We are willing to provide art for flat fee or share of card sales -make a offer

it's a shame that posts like this can't be removed or the spam portions edited out. Wow... I would never do this... the original intention was good and something I would comment on... I've created almost 100 cards now with a whopping 23 cards sold - 16 by me and 3 by a friend... that leaves 4 by others - granted I'm new... granted I needed help with keywords (and thank you to those who took the time to investigate... I did heed your words of advice and will comment on the other thread when I can hop over there)... but I thought with all the chatter on how great this site was that I'd see more by now especially with the holidays coming. Are my cards that bad? Do they not appeal to folks? Are people really cutting back not buying cards?

Hi Donna,
I think David is trying to drum up business anyway he can, and I think he's saying he has art for sale if any artists want to buy some of his images, it is not too clear but that's my take on it. He took every opportunity to promote his other sites which seems a little 'cheeky'.
Anyway like you I have enough of my own images and cards. Your cards are lovely and marketable IMO I think what we all are up against here is getting our cards seen with so many choices. It seems it all comes down to marketing oneself and ones store in the end. I have not done this and I realize I need to do something.
Corrie has some great info on this see her post in the thread below.

I think it can be helpful to submit to the Wanted New Cards requests and have some very specific cards, birthday, anniversary, for family members, etc that go out in reminder emails. Some traffic does come from your cards being out there, I do get google searchs for PamJArts or my name which amazes me.
Anyway too much info here probably, what I am saying is it's not your cards they are lovely.

oh, I did realize he was plugging his art that definitely walked the line of spam
... but considering the subject line, the original intent seemed genuine as that definitely appears to be a problem... maybe just too many cards to choose from?
I definitely am looking into more marketing strategies and I have done some of the Wanted cards when I have images/renderings that fit with no success there either
. Guess we all are up against a great many artists and I suppose exposure comes down to those who really know the tricks of the trade... I admit... I don't... total newbie here!!

Sorry if i seemed to be spamming.
My intent was to say we have lots of art to share if anyone needs some and to include links to a little of it, because we have far more than we will ever use for greeting cards
and
that it is not easy to sell anything anywhere on the web-in spite of any efforts made.
So dont be discouraged, just keep trying, because Time and continual effort is the only thing that really works.

We all have a lot of art that the world should see - however we don't spam.

I don't see the original post as spam <
Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems ) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately
I think it was a sincere plea for a collaboation, hence this forum. I believe the artist was requesting a collaborator with better language skills than themselves. One of the ways to collaborate might be to sell your images, or rights to them instead of forming a clumsy partnership with a new GCU id and even clumsier payout distribution method. I don't think the post was spam at all. The link may have made it appear so. Of course none of us here is in the market for images because most of us have our own to sell. It is the words that are hard to come by for many of us. As it is with the poster.

There is also Internet Forum Spam. The key word being Unsolicited. I didn't get that this person was looking for a collaborator - they were looking to sell something. That's my two cents for what it's worth.

to Angela & others offended by what they consider spamming
I dont consider sharing information with other artist to be spamming .
If i did i could judge every forum writer a spammer trying to get their work seen, because all forums include links to artist stores in an attempt to be seen. (because of your spam i did look at your page and liked your work and would like to see more- thanks for the spam)
I was going to ignore the neg comments , but i decided to responed to the neg comments because i did not want anyone to be discouraged and stop sharing links to all their wonderful creations
I dont mind and I look forward to links showing attempts artist have made to sell. I eagerly read all postings hoping to see ,learn and appreciate the work of every artist on GCU . I look forward to them including links to work they have done and any attempts to market art , because its a difficult task and i appreciate seeing what people are trying. There are no magic bullets to make a killing selling art,
But long term continual effort does grow exposure and eventually sales do follow.
If i was looking to sell something by posting in the forum than i was certainly in the wrong place and wasting my time. After nearly 2 years on GCU, we have 250 card designs and 26 sales, and we have not been paid 1 cent. We clearly are not here for the money. We dont even expect to be paid within the next year, but that does not and should not stop us or anyone for trying to create and share more of their work.
I offered links to what we have tried as a way to share what we created so all can learn,
not with the intention of selling to starving artist who cannot and will not buy cards or designs from anyone, because they cant afford to . If i was trying to make money ,the last thing i would do is show or share anything we have tried with other artist.
But i believe good art spurs demand for more good art - so bring it on everyone
Our presence on GCU is a labor of love and we offered to share our images with little hope of making anything for them. Few of the artist on this site will ever get paid because they will never sell enought to reach the min $25 payment. Thats the cold hard truth .
So i look forward to seeing any and all links to work done by other artist and any attempts they made to market their work. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS TO BE SPAM
I beg them all to keep trying and never give up , or expect instant results.
In an artist life, often success comes long after the artist gives up and stops trying. DON'T STOP
Please keep trying and sharing what your doing, even if its considered spamming by some.
With 65 videos full of Valxart art posted on over 60 sites, 5 web sites with hundreds of pages, 250 greeting cards , 3000 abstract surreal images,13 software programs we have barely started to be seen .
Three years ago when we started marketing our art we had less than a 1000 links appear when we searched for our name "valxart" in Google. Now we have over 460,000 links appear, compared to the smithsonians 16 million links. Our sales are still few and far between , but we continue and are trying to catch up with the smithsonian. Maybe then we will actually sell something, but we stopped caring about sales because it was a disappointing waste of time, and not the art we love to see and share.

The links at the bottom of the posts are standard GCU formatting - not spam.
