Thank you to everyone for your opinions and wonderful insight. Taking your feedback into consideration here is our plan.
1) NEW BOC IMAGE - a separate artist image will be used solely for your BOC image. So the image/photo you have today will continue to be used for your forum id and your artist profile image on your storefront but no longer for the BOC credits. You will be able to upload a new one when this feature is added.
2) SIMPLIFIED CARD BACKING - give Shoppers the option for a "simplified" card backing. This will consist of a more subtle GCU logo, no FSC logo and the artist credits LESS the artist image. The artist name, storename and store URL will remain, the shopper can not opt to remove them.
The primary area of concern for shoppers has been some of the artist images. Self photos that appear to be home taken in nature were deemed as not so "professional" or "appealing".
We will announce on the forum when these features are ready.

Thank you Mindy and GCU for the (imo) perfect solution. I think most people will be happy.

i agree, i think this will be a reasonable compromise.
as far as boc credits and the url... i have been told that the
www. does not need to be on a printed url ( like in ads and on
business cards) because most browsers will add it to the urls
and will go even with out it being typed in.
so between
http://www.GCUniverse.com/dbvisualarts
www.GCUniverse.com/dbvisualarts
GCUniverse.com/dbvisualarts <---not an active link but they will not be linking from the card anyway.
I think i will prefer the last one that will clean it up that much more, less characters
.
thank you

Question...I like my logo and don't plan on changing it. I believe it is professional and quite frankly a part of my image. Will I need to upload it again? Who decides if the artist image is ok or not? I don't mind if a customer opts not to have my logo on the back of the card, I will just start putting my name credit on the front of the card again...no big deal. It does sort of rub me the wrong way, however, that if a card is pleasing enough for someone to buy that they have issues with the BACK of the card giving the artist credit...................................go figure............................just my opine, not a huge issue with me. I will continue to follow this issue.

Thanks for the update, Mindy! This sounds like a reasonable solution, which takes all parties into consideration!

linda no need to put your name on the front -see what mindy said about the back and artist credits. they can opt for a simpler back that will still have your credit...just not your logo. if they do not opt to do the simpler back then your logo will still be there. mindy will have to say if your logo can still be used for the cards, i don't know about that.

Well done GCU, as usual.
Several points:
1. You did not mention how GCU will assure that the new artist image will be assured to be better than the old image as far as looking professional. I'd suggest a new admin page with several professional-looking examples be shown to give artists an idea of the requirements, and that the image go through the approval process initially and when changed.
2. The BOC artist images varied in size and shape quite a bit, from square to thin-wide to thin-tall, plus the text was registered against this shape even when the image was disabled, having it "float" at times. That looked bad. I'd suggest some design work be done to assure all combinations look professional. The worry is that existing images that may be professional might have to change, particularly the long tall ones.
3. Any thoughts of font type, sixe, and color consistency on the BOC?
Again, well done. I guess we can put the worms back in the can, for the moment.

From a former Hallmarker------GCU is not Hallmark------Artist names should be left on the cards with their logo. At Hallmark as Donna said staff is paid a good salery so don't expect to have their names on the cards, they are Hallmarkers. But HallMark does license Wellknown Artist [Branded Properties] and their names are on the back of the cards, and They are paid a VERY good feel for the use of their branding.

If it is possible in the "card sold" email to tell the artist that the buyer chose to disable the BOC image, I suspect most artists over time would get the hint and perhaps make changes.

Tom, What a great idea! That added to Mindy's/GCU's new implementations should make for satisfied customers and artists all around.
