Has anyone had success putting up a local ad on craigslist?

Hi. As I recall, Craigslist doesn't allow links to other web sites. You could perhaps refer people after they reply to your ad but I think that's an awkward way to do it. Kijiji and the other local classified sites are the same. Maybe some one can suggest a way to do it. Bob.

That is not true.  I have an ad that I delete and repost every three days in the Phila., Pa CL that has two different website links within.  < http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/crs/1391471902.html >
I will work on such an ad for my store on GCU and post the address here when complete.

Interesting. I was informed by Craigslist that I couldn't link to a third party website. Perhaps that's the key, I tried to direct people directly to my GCU store and not my personal website. I'll be watching to see how you do it and maybe try again. Bob.

I just put an ad in about a week ago...directing people to my Zazzle shop. Going to put one on today, directing to my GCU shop.

Best!

Cherie,

I've never used craiglist.  Was looking at you add.  Is that a free add?  How did you get photos on?  Do you have any suggestions for a new advertiser?  How's your response to your ads?

I'm just full of questions.
Thanks,
Kati

Hey Kati,

Glad to help...

Yes, that is a free ad.

When you sign up and then go to list an ad, it will ask you what category, arts + crafts. Then it has a place to upload pictures. I believe there were only four places for photos.

Then I put my link to my shop in of course, using html.

I am very new to Craigslist, but the person that told me about it said to always list anonomously, or you will get tons of spam. You just have to walk through it slowly, the way I did.

I just checked my Google analytics and foung out that I've had 8 visits so far. I've listed in the biggest town closest to me. Most of my visits to that site are direct, through Google, Bing and Twitter.

Hope this helps!
Cherie

I just placed an ad on CL  < http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/for/1435275209.html >
The trick with CL ads is to have them near the top of the first page.  In Phila that means I must repost that ad every three days.  That is the closest spread in days that is allowable without being rejected as spam.  So I have an account.  I place the ad and go back three days later.  I then delete the posting.  When that process is over I go back to my account and repost this posting.  Over and over until I refresh the text and or images in the ad.  Now I don't have a handle on the traffic at GCU down but it will be interesting to see if more traffic shows there.
