Craiglist challenge
Sep 30th, 2008, 3:00pm

I suggest each one of us, in our respective cities, put an ad on Craigslist for GCU. say something like, "Attn: Artists" and then describe GCU. Also put in your store URL. It would be interesting to compare store visits after the ad is posted and see if it generates any interest. Hey, it's free!

What Craigslist category Angela? - there's tons! Good idea!

Also, we can place the ad to many cities in our respective states.  Minnesota has the 5 major urban centers on Craigslist so I plan to post 5 ads.

Hi, after reading Angeals post, I placed an ad for London as there wasn't an option for a bigish city here in Yorkshire. I'm sure I read somewhere on the site that they like to keep the ads as if they are local so they treat multiple ads from same person placed in many areas as spam. Hope I'm wrong as it's a great idea.
Les.

Yes, you are not allowed more than one ad at a time, so that's why I sugested everyone get on board : ) I put mine under "arts and crafts".

What's cool is you can upload up to 4 images right from your 1500x2100 stock.   No need to resize.

Great idea.   Tom, you may want to mention "Send as many or as few cards as your like, i.e. cost for one card personalized and mailed is $2.79 + 42 cents postage. "   Many shoppers assume that you have to buy a larger quantity.

BTW, once you place your ad, you may want to include the link in your forum posting, like Tom did.    This will help it get picked up by google bots, since they're always cruising GCU and the forum.

Keep up with the clever ideas Smiley

Angela, Thank you for posting on Creigslist, I'm on the list for Kansas City.
I'm a computer novice so it was probably me, but I ran into some problems so I thought I would post this.
1.  The full store URL---If any one has a long store name it gets cut off.  If you try to use the short GCuniverse with your store name it won't link.  It has to be only www.GCuniverse.com.
2. The four images are limited in mega bites as a whole----4.395 for mine was to large so I picked diferent images, 2.202 worked but was very slow uploading.

Question: We can only pick one city----can we change the
city each week or every two weeks so we could end up covering our whole state?

I think you have to wait 48 hours between each posting.

Actually, it's 45 days between posts, but you could lways delete one after a few days and put it in another city's postings.

I just checked Tom's ad.  It's still there and there is no flag on it now.   The one that I posted for the Orlando, FL area is still up also.

I don't know why someone would flag it, but even if it's flagged they wouldn't remove it if it's not against rules (which I don't see why it would be). Mine's up.
