Using Vintage Postcards / Paper findings
Sep 23rd, 2008, 3:05pm

The use of vintage postcards and findings to create new cards has come up a few times.  Because of vague copyright laws in this area here is the guideline that we will be operating under and revising as we learn more:

Vintage works, particularly works pre 1978 copyright laws, have limited, non-existent or expired copyright protection particularly when used in a new and creative or "reworked" manner.  Using the original work "as is" to create a card is merely "copying".

Since the laws are not completely clear in this area and we certainly are not able to research the rights and date of creation of each image used we will accept those images that use vintage findings as elements in a new composition thus creating your own original piece of art.

Sorry it's not so clear cut and please be patient with us during the review process if we have questions for you re: the source and composition of your work.
