youtube and marketting

Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new here, and have been playing around with some marketting ideas. Has anyone had success with marketting on youtube?
I did up a quick little video last night for there:

I have also added widgets to my space, facebook and created my own website with links back to GCU

Any other ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I reviewed all the posts I can find about marketting, and I think the only thing suggested that I haven't done yet is contact local media.

I haven't been able to get the star thing to work on other sites, no luck except gcu! Excellent idea to use Utube. Norval

We have posted videos on YouTube and many other locations for the last year . None of them get a lot of viewing , but they do get views. We find that the viewer counts that show are deceptive because they don't count a lot of the second hand sites that distribute videos. In a little over a year on Youtube , youtube shows less than a 1000 views , but we have found other sites that play the posted youtube videos that sometimes get thousands of viewers.

We currently have around 30 videos posted. While none have caused any huge buying surge, our art has been seen by thousands of viewers around the world .

If your goal of posting videos is to sell today it can be disappointing, but it you want to establish your name and expose your work as an artist, it gives you a forum.

We try to measure video response by doing a google search for our name VALXART and have watched our response on google search go from 200 listings a year ago to currently over 4800, and yahoo searches for valxart go from 500 to 11,800. These searches show us secondary places that also promote our art and give us ideas for other marketing locations.

We liked your video , you did a great job.
But we wondered about the music used.

We only use music we create with public domain tracks, because we did not know how to properly license usage of commercial songs in a video .

Was your music public domain or properly licensed ?

We wonder how to go about using commercial music in a video and what it costs.
Anyone know how to do it properly?

Until we figure out how to license music for usage, we keep from using other artist creations.
