You have some lovely designs Linda, so don't get discouraged. Keep putting more up and adding to your store and you'll get sales eventually.

It took me a while to get started too but I just kept going and I'm happy I did! Keep it up!  Smiley

Not at all you have some lovely stuff.  It took me 2 months to build a decent sized gallery on zazzle and start getting sales.  I don't expect it to take any less here.  I'm sure you'll do fine.  Aim for as many categories as you can 'cos this gets visitors to your page where they see things they want - but didn't know it yet!  Most important - don't give up!

Your designs are imaginative and well executed. Over time, I predict that you will do well.

Take a look at your store stats. If you are getting a significant number of hits to your store front, you may want to arrange your cards so that the seasonal ones are first. Not all your Christmas designs are on your front page. I assume a lot of sales come from the marketplace, from search terms on Greeting Card Universe. But I've had a lot of hits on my store front, and I've only been here a short time. Of course, some of those hits are search engines crawling the site, but some are customers, I'm sure. Also be aware that some customers are coming directly from a search engine such as Google. Keywords are important, as are the categories in which you place your card. This is a link from Google to my Christmas cards. You can see here
www.greetingcarduniverse.com/community/store.asp?keyword=Xmas&store_id=900
by reading the URL that they are linking to just my Xmas cards, which is a keyword I used, long with "Christmas", in all my Christmas cards.

Also, Google loves change. It compares past versions of your web page to the current version. I've been bad about this myself, but if you put up a new bulletin weekly, that will help you in your Google ranking.

I hope this helps. Keep adding cards of the quality you currently have up, and you will have no problems.

There isn't much that I can add to what everyone else has said.  Just keep adding cards in different categories, because there is every type of person out there, and they could be looking for any type of card.  Variety works very well here!  Patience is key too!  Good luck, I hope you make a sale real soon! I thought the same way and was thinking, "maybe this isn't the site for me" and I was going to give up.

Suddenly I got an email saying someone bought one of my cards. They bought 27 of my korean christmas card. I was suprised to say the least. Cheesy  Shocked

And that was after maybe 2 mos of being a member and not making a sale.

Hi Linda,
Certainly don't despair.  You have a nice variety of cards and a wonderful style that's sure to be appreciated by just the right shopper.

Some good advice from your peer artists - hang in there, patience is a must, and keep coming up with new cards.

Yes, you should manage your Featured Products to highlight seasonal cards.  You can also move your Featured Products module to appear above your Product Gallery.  That will give your holiday cards more visability when visitors come to your storefront.  It's a good idea to add different cards to the Featured Products module season by season or holiday by holiday.

Identify categories that need cards and keep watching the shoppers' card requests.  Your Poodle and Teen cards were wonderful!  It's requests like these that will do well when someone searches for the same card next time.

We could certainly use more cards in the following:

Invitations >> New Year:

Holidays >> Christmas >> Babysitter cards:
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/shopping/cb.asp?cid=884

Holidays >> Christmas >> My Teacher cards:
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/shopping/cb.asp?cid=723

In case you didn't see, two of your Christmas cards are featured on GCU Picks page which gives them extra exposure, good luck Wink:  http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/community/popular.asp?sort=edpick

Keep hopeful and keep creating!

On a similar theme - I've had 393 store clicks and 439 card clicks but only sold 1 card - is that usual?  It seems like an awful lot of clicks for only one sale - I am new, though, so I don't know what I'm talking about...

I fear a lot of patience and perseverance is needed in online business. My success online has been fairly limited til now. But I know that I will succeed because my work sells offline. Alison you have wonderful dog cards, they MUST sell. I have found some encouraging information here :

Perhaps that loads your batteries up a bit Smiley.

Martin - thank you so much for the encouragement - and for the link!!!

Do you sell designs to greeting card companies or do you mean you sell the actual cards in real life?

Hi Linda,
the greeting card business is very new for me I am just beginning. Apart from this online venue I will try to sell to publishers later this year,as there seems to be a big potential.
I have an imagekind account and sold only 1 print online yet(after 20000 clicks!),but on shows when people can experience the work I sell much better. Also I am quite happy with the offline sales of my original monotype prints. So I get my motivation mainly from offline activities and slow online sales do not hurt me so much.

I find your dog portraits very appealing and I would bet that you will succeed with them.

do be careful and read the fine, fine print before submitting to established publishers.  hallmark states in the fine print that they do not accept unsolicited designs, however if you still send the design in, they then have the right to use it and provide NO compensation or acknowledgment of the artist.  ... be very careful
