Best Selling Category
Sep 25th, 2007, 8:54am

Hi,
I was wondering if all the cards showing in the "best selling" category are cards that have actually sold or are there other reasons for cards to find themselves in that category?

Thanks,
Christie

Hi Christie,

I'm not sure when the statistics on 'best selling' are renewed (maybe Shaun could answer that question), but they do represent actual sales.

Thanks, Corrie....
Hmmm, I hadn't looked through them all, but I noticed at least 2 that were in there that were not in my sales report which made me think there was another reason they would find their way there, or something glitched somewhere.
Thanks,
Christie

It's true sales - plain and simple.

The only tweaking we've done is to display by unique orders vs total quantity.  This gives less weight to large single orders.  For example, a single card purchased 200 times = 200 sales vs 200 of the same card purchased once = 1 sale.

Thanks, so my cards that show on the best sellers list, should be in my sales report, correct?  There were at least 2 of my cards that I noticed on the list that I thought odd because I never saw them in my sales report.

Hi Mindy,
I am having the same problem Christie is with the best sellers list.  I was checking the list and found five of my cards on the list that are not on my sales report--there may be more, but I got tired of looking at the best sellers list, since it was so long.  Please check into the following product id's for me:  75829, 75686, 81138, 80970 and 84499.
Thank you.

Having been a system analyst in another life, I love a good mystery; and this sales mystery is a good one.  I continued to look at the best sellers later in the day and discovered another 22 of my cards on the best sellers list (never finished looking at all best sellers) which have never been on my sales report.  I did find all my cards which were on my sales report on the best sellers list, but now I have found a total of 27 card on the best sellers list which have never been on my sales report.  Here is my list of additional 22 cards:  86545, 85951, 75525, 76011, 76003, 76210, 77012, 77611, 78592, 87184, 75877, 85286, 84495, 84239, 83558, 79320, 79464, 80870, 81531, 81942, 82758, 83308. Perhaps sales from a particular source are not recording or maybe the best sellers list is in error?  I will be very interested in your findings.

Hi Everyone,

In addition to cards sold, this report has also been factoring in the number of times a card has been added to a users shopping cart.  So some of the cards currently included on the list have never been sold.

We are updating this report to only include cards that have been purchased.

Hi Shaun,
Thanks for fixing this.  This has left a big question in my mind though of why so many people would put one of my cards in their cart and then not purchase it?
Maybe this is a common thing for shoppers to do--put a number of cards in their cart and then decide later which one of a particular type of card to buy.  I do not know.  One thing I was wondering is do you or anyone else out there know if putting your copyright on the photo is a turnoff for potential buyers? Just curious.  Thanks!

Hi Kathy,
Replying for Shaun.

No indicators that the copyright on the photo is a deterrent to buy.  I think with any piece of art that or a signature is expected as long as the copyright is done in good taste (placement, color, size).

We have received complaints that the image protection watermark is annoying.  It distorts the artwork and sometimes makes it difficult to see the art and text clearly.  That certainly has been a turnoff for potential buyers.

In response to that we've....
a) made the watermark optional
b) are testing a smaller, less intrusive watermark
