print quality

I'm still new to this site but have not yet found a way to check on the print quality of what you are sending out when people order cards.  I assume that part of the approval process has to do with checking for image clarity, but I also know that graphics printed on printing press can vary dramatically from those printed from a photo-quality desktop printer.  How can I be sure my images are as clear at your end as they are at mine without actually purchasing one of each myself?

Hi, Margaret!

The answer to your question is pretty simple - What You See is What You Get.  Or Garbage In, Garbage Out (as they say in the programming industry).  Wink

Once you've made your image the correct size and dpi (2100x1500 or 1500x2100, 300 dpi), for the best and most professional results it must also be crisp and clean. Images that are fuzzy, out of focus, lacking clarity and/or badly rendered or scanned will not improve during printing. Starting with excellent quality images will give you excellent print quality.

A tip - if you're working with photographs, we recommend giving the cards a gloss finish; illustrative artwork works best with matte.

You should have 2 store credits so that you can order 2 of your own cards to check the quality. You'll see that when you order a card and are able to apply a credit to it. Your best bet is to order one of your cards that you believe will be difficult to print well; that'll give you a true test of GCU's printer's skill.
