re ecards
May 17th, 2007, 11:52am

I am encouraging friends to send out ecards when sending emails..Myself included, meaning that the email contains the ecard. However I have been told that its not easy to find which of My cards are ecards, could there be "available as ecard" shown on our store fronts?

Hi Terry,
Don't know if your question was ever answered.  If not, so sorry.

We have yet to look to our ecard side of the house since our wish list for paper cards is wonderfully long.  However it is part of our plan.  Currently on the storefront there is a link in the Search My Storefront module that displays Free Ecards.

The current thought at this point is we'd rather not downsell a card to an ecard by showing "this card is available as a free ecard" along each card.  When we do turn our energy to ecards we plan on using messaging to upsell our ecard audience to purchase the paper card.

We could perhaps display the "Free Ecards" link more prominently in the Search module.  Your thoughts?

Hope that addresses your question.

We have moved the "free eCards" link from the left category list to the right where it stands near "all cards" and should be more visable.

eCard Copyrights?

Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a way to copyright our work when sending it out as an eCard?
Also here's a suggestion. When sending out an eCard why not offer new clients a discount on ordering a paper card?  Wink

Ciao,
Phyllis

Hi, Phyllis!

It's very easy to put your copyright notice on your image while you're working on it in whatever graphics program you use (like Photoshop). Doing that allows you much more leeway in where the notice appears on your image as well.

Thank you Corrie!
I took your advice and put the copyrights on most of my cards. Somehow though it's a pity to have to include the mark on the card. I wonder how the major paper card companies manage it without having the cr written on the cards? Why is it different and necessary with GCU?

By the way I tried to do a search for your name but had no luck. Alot of the card titles that I have also aren't found within the search system.  Sad

Glad to make contact with you!
Ciao,
Phyllis

I'm pretty sure major paper card companies have their copyright information on the back of their cards. GCU's printing process precludes artists from putting any info on the back of your card, hence the option to put your personal copyright notice on the front of the card. If you make it small enough, it isn't that intrusive.

Don't know what's up with the internal search engine. If you click the link in my signature, you'll go straight to my shop.

I saw where another user was ordering her cards, then putting on a sticker that she made with a small artist write-up on it--then sticking it on the back of the card.  Great idea!
